- 10–15 lb braid
- Leader
- 20–30 lb fluorocarbon
- Hook
- 3/0 worm hook or 1/4 oz jig head
- Rig
- Jig head + soft plastic, or weedless soft bait over grass
- Lure / bait
- Paddletails, jerk shad, topwater
- Knot
- Double uni to leader; loop knot to lure
Why this setup works
A 7' rod is long enough to cast well but short enough to fight and land fish beside the kayak without high-sticking.
