How to tie it
- 1Tie a loose overhand knot in the line a few inches from the tag.
- 2Pass the tag through the hook eye, then back through the overhand knot.
- 3Wrap the tag around the standing line 2–3 times.
- 4Feed the tag back through the overhand knot again.
- 5Wet, set the loop size, and cinch; trim.
Common mistakes
- Loop too big (poor hooksets)
- Cinching before setting the loop size
When not to use it
Heavy structure where a fixed knot is stronger.
