The strongest fixed-size loop knot — maximum lure action with reliable strength. A saltwater favorite.

How to tie it

  1. 1Make an overhand knot several inches up the line, leaving it open.
  2. 2Pass the tag through the hook eye and back through the overhand loop.
  3. 3Wrap the tag around the standing line (4–5 wraps for light line, fewer for heavy).
  4. 4Pass the tag back through the overhand loop the same way it exited.
  5. 5Wet, set the loop size, and pull the standing line to seat; trim.

Common mistakes

  • Wrong wrap count for line weight
  • Tag exiting the wrong side of the overhand

When not to use it
